A 78ac non-residential organic farm with a substantial farmyard at Mawmore, Enniskeane in West Cork is attracting lively bidding on the private treaty market.

Auctioneer Ernest Forde expects the price on offer to soon pass the €1m mark in accumulated bidding on the various lots.

Located about 5.5km from Bandon and Enniskeane the farm is divided by the road linking the two settlements and also has road frontage on to a side road. There are 65ac on one side of the main road and 13ac on the other.

A 65ac portion has been farmed organically for a number of years and is registered as an organic unit until the end of this year.

Across the road the 13ac parcel is made up of 10ac of farmland, 1.5ac in forestry and the same again in waste ground.

The main 65ac portion is laid out in about eight sizeable fields divided by natural hedgerow with the ground in stubble having been most recently used for tillage crops that included porridge oats.

The land is described by Ernest Forde as the best of ground and suitable to any farming purpose. He says that substantial gravel and rock deposits underground render the farm dry and self-drained.

The yard includes an 8000 sq ft lying shed with a concrete floor fitted with a feeding system. The farm can be sold in lots or as an entire with one lot comprised of the 13ac parcel, a further 18ac is made up of arable ground while the yard will be sold with the remaining 48ac.
