Auction rooms around the country are preparing for a busy end to the month. Among the upcoming sales is that 69ac farm at Killacloran, Aughrim, Co Wicklow. It comes to auction with a guide price of €640,000 or just over €9,000/ac.

Located within 1km of Aughrim, the farm has extensive frontage to two roads. The holding is in one large block, with the exception of a 15ac portion that is in need of reclamation. The ground is described by Alan Kinsella of Kinsella Estates as top quality free draining ground that is suitable for most farming types. The three-bedroom farmhouse, which requires extensive repair, is located in an old-style yard that has a range of old farm buildings also in need of work.

The property can be sold in three lots or as an entire. The first lot consists of 36ac, the second portion extends to 29ac, while the farmhouse and outbuildings is on almost 3ac. The auction takes place on Thursday, March 26 at 3pm at Murphy's Hotel, Tinahely, Co Wicklow.

Moving west, Portarlington auctioneer, Matt Dunne, is selling 52ac of what he describes as "excellent arable land" located at Sranure, Clonygowan, Co Offaly. The farm comes to auction with a guide of €9,000/ac.

The holding is divided into three large grass fields and its mature hedging is ideal for shelter. The presence of a river ensures an unending water supply to the property, which comes with extensive road frontage.

"This farm is ideal for any equestrian or farming enterprise," Mr Dunne said

The auction takes place at the Bridge House Hotel, Tullamore at 3pm on Tuesday, March 24.
