The sale of a 41.4ac holding at The Ward, Co Dublin, should spark a lot of interest. The farm, which is in the townland of Coolquay, is being sold by local auctioneers Real Estate Alliance Grimes and comes with a guide price of €300,000, or just under €7,500/ac.

Auctioneer Paul Grimes describes the land, located off the old N2 and 6km from Ashbourne, as super ground that's very well drained and has more than 700m of road frontage. He says the land is the best of tillage ground with good hedgerows and fencing.

It was bought by a company a number of years ago for development and is now being sold on behalf of Grant Thornton. It is expected that it will go back to agricultural use.

According to Mr Grimes, the land is very well located at the heart of good farming country.

"It is very much suited to the tillage farmer with the possibility of multiple access points to the land off the 710m of road frontage," Mr Grimes said.

He expects a lot of local interest when the property comes for sale on March 14 at 3pm at Coolquay Lodge, Ashbourne, Co Meath.

Mr Grimes will be in action again the following day when he brings a 12.4ac parcel to auction. Located at Posseckstown, Enfield, Co Meath, between Kilcock and Kinnegad, the land is described as heavy ground.

Nevertheless, the auctioneer is confident the guide price of €80,000 will attract the buyers when he offers it for sale at the Johnstown House Hotel, Enfield, at 3pm on Thursday, March 15.
