Disease testing centre opens for export stock

Patsy McArdle

LIVESTOCK exports from the Republic's north east received a major boost last week with the establishment of an approved centre where cattle bound for export can be tested for TB and brucellosis.

The centre is located at Clontibret, Co Monaghan, a short distance from the south Armagh border.

The centre, which was set up by Castleblayney Livestock Sales Limited, provides facilities for livestock exporters to test stock.

Announcing the new development, Conall Nugent of Castleblayney Livestock Sales said they were delighted to be able to provide "such an all-important facility".
