Details galore in HSI book
HorseSport Ireland's stallion book will be arriving at the homes of all paid-up shareholders this week and includes several new features to provide breeders with more information to assist them in selecting the most suitable stallion for their mare.
The new features for this year include international performance information, star ratings and linear scoring information. The book also gives full details of each approved stallion, including their breeding and number of foals registered.
For the first time, international performance is detailed. Included in this publication is the combined number of FEI points for showjumping, eventing and dressage, as published in the WBFSH rankings list from 2004 to last year, for the progeny of individual stallions.
In addition, performance information at national level for showjumping, eventing and dressage in Ireland, and individual stallions and their progeny, is included where available, courtesy of Showjumping Ireland, Eventing Ireland and Dressage Ireland.
Under each stallion, new 'Star Ratings' also appear. Sport Horse and Thoroughbred stallions are eligible to be awarded star ratings, ranging from 1 to 5, based on their performance and their progeny's performance in FEI disciplines.
Class 1 Irish Draught stallions are eligible to be awarded additional merits (Bronze, Silver and Gold) based on their performance and that of their progeny in a number of disciplines, including showjumping, dressage, eventing and in-hand showing.
Another new addition to the publication is the inclusion of linear scoring information.
