The ICMSA has called for immediate action to approve applications made under the Dairy Investment Grant.

ICMSA deputy president John Comer claimed that no approvals had been issued to farmers despite assurances from the Department last July that the issue was being dealt with.

"It is totally unacceptable that farmers who applied for this scheme as far back as March still have not received approval," Mr Comer said.

A total of 842 applications were received by the Department with a value, in grant terms, of €9.61m prior to suspension of the scheme on June 8 this year.
