Department defers meadows date

The unpredictable weather conditions have forced the Department of Agriculture to defer the closing date for the traditional hay meadows under the Agri-Environmental Options Scheme (AEOS) by one month.

The closing date has been extended to May 15 due to exceptional circumstances including the severe shortages of animal fodder.

However, the Department reminded farmers that they must meet all other existing requirements under the AEOS scheme regarding the traditional hay meadows.
