‘You haven’t been taking your multi-vitamins.” This was the response I got from our veterinary nurse last week when I complained of having a cold-sore on my lip.

I was, of course, looking for some sympathy. However, as so often happens, only advice was forthcoming: I should have been adhering to best practice and talking my vitamin supplements every day, simple as that.
