Counting down to a seasonal feast of racing at Leopardstown

Tickets and hospitality packages are now on sale for the Leopardstown Christmas Festival which kicks off on December 26 and runs until December 29.

As one of the most popular festivals of the year it attracts the cream of National Hunt horses from Ireland and beyond, and this year's renewal will be no exception.

St Stephen's Day always attracts a huge range of personalities and celebrities along with families, friends and racing fans and this opens the first of four high calibre National Hunt race days by featuring the Grade 1 Racing Post Novice Steeplechase.

The Paddy Power Day on December 27 features two thrilling Grade 1 races - the Paddy Power Dial-A-Bet Chase and The Paddy Power Future Champion Novice Hurdle.

Monday, December 28 is Lexus Day and aside from the Grade 1 Lexus Chase, it is like a 'red carpet event' for women and a huge day in the social calendar for Irish fashion with the Monart Destination Spa Most Stylish Lady competition.

The fourth and final day of the Christmas Festival promises to be another day of top class racing.

More recently it has become part of the official New Year's Eve Celebrations with a live concert after racing.

Won by Hurricane Fly in four of the last five runnings, the Ryanair Hurdle is one of the hotly contested races and a key pointer for the Champion Hurdle in Cheltenham. The day also features the Grade 1 Topaz Novice Chase.
