CNH has announced a long- term strategic partnership with another Norwegian firm Orkel AS.
Based in Fannrem, Norway, Orkel is one of the largest manufacturers of farm machinery in Norway, manufacturing round balers, combination baler wrappers, compactors (including maize balers), tractor trailers and snow blowers.
Just before Christmas, CNH lost out to Japanese firm Kubota for the Norwegian machinery firm Kverneland.
Kverneland and CNH had signed a marketing agreement previously, which would have seen Kverneland supply CNH-branded products for CNH's American markets.
CNH says its partnership with Orkel will involve collaboration in several key areas to further reinforce CNH's position in the agricultural machinery business. CNH will acquire intellectual property rights and tooling for Orkel's fixed-chamber round balers and Orkel will become CNH's preferred engineering partner for the development of high performance/heavy duty new generation of balers.
CNH already has a range of fixed (below) and variable chamber round balers plus square balers, and as such it is too early to say what impact the Orkel products will have on the existing range.
