Claas history honoured for 100th birthday
Taking centre stage at this year's De Courcey Vintage and Classic Club Working Day on Monday will be a unique collection of historical Claas machinery, brought together to mark the 100th anniversary of the manufacturer.
The event, which is being held at Barrels Cross near Kinsale in Co Cork, will be a high point of Claas's centenary celebrations in Ireland.
As part of the day, a display area will feature a large number of vintage, classic and modern Claas trailed and self-propelled combines, together with balers and other harvesting equipment, making this one of the largest gatherings of historic Claas machinery in Europe.
A high point of the day will be the auction of a very special copy of recently published book 100 Years of Harvesting Excellence, which provides a comprehensive history of Claas and its products, and which has been signed by Helmut Claas for the auction.
Also on auction will be two Claas combine models. The first represents a Claas Lexion 770 Terratrac from McCarthy Plant and Agri Sales of Cork, who are Claas's main dealers, and the second represents the 100th anniversary of Claas.
Proceeds from the auction and the day will go to the Children's Leukaemia Unit, Cork and other local charities.
