Chinese company Yili moving up in the world stakes
Chinese companies are making huge strides in the global dairy industry, according to the Rabobank Dairy Top 20 report.
Having entered the top 20 for the first time in 2010, Chinese company Yili has jumped four places into 15th, while Mengiu moved up two places into 16th.
Rabobank said the two companies were riding the wave of domestic market sales growth.
The top 20 list is compiled based on dairy product turnover.
Meanwhile, Nestle (€18.6bn) and Danone (€14bn) remain top of the table, in first and second place respectively. French company Lactalis (€13.5bn), New Zealand giant Fonterra (€11.3bn) and Friesland Campina (€9.7bn) in the Netherlands took the third, fourth and fifth slots.
