Chance to re-develop Mayo farm
An interesting residential farm located at Trouthill, Charlestown, Co Mayo, should attract the more enterprising customer. The holding, located 3.5km from Charlestown and 4km from Knock Airport, is made up of 39ac of land and includes a range of buildings and 10ac of shared turbary rights.
According to Nuala Feeney, of selling agents Sherry Fitzgerald Feeney West in Ballina, the land was let for quite a number of years and is in need of attention.
However, things get interesting when one takes a closer look at the built end of the property.
"The buildings include a derelict single-storey cottage with a two-bay hay shed," said Ms Feeney. "Then there is a barn that was converted for residential use but without planning permission and, finally, an unfinished dormer bungalow with roof and windows, also without planning."
Ms Feeney admits that this might all seem complicated but believes there are customers out there for the property.
Whatever about the complications, the price should attract interest. The private treaty sale has a guide of €5,000/ac or €195,000 for the lot -- a cheap price for what could be a cheerful proposition.
