Cattle feed cost up 22pc
Livestock feed prices have increased by as much as 22pc in the past 12 months, according to CSO figures.
The latest statistics on agricultural input prices show a rise of 22pc in the price of cattle feed between April 2012 and April 2013.
The figures also show an increase of 19.7pc in the cost of straight-feeding stuffs, a rise of 15.4pc in the cost of compound feeds and a rise of almost 19pc in the cost of calf feed.
Overall, the cost of farm inputs rose 7.6pc in the 12 months. However, the price of farm outputs have risen by 11.6pc during the same period, with crop prices rising by 45pc and milk prices rising by 14.3pc.
