Castlepollard cottage snapped up as land sold in two lots

A cottage and 18.7ac at Castlepollard, Co Westmeath, sold last week for €131,500.

Located off the road between Mullingar and Castlepollard, the property was sold in three lots.

Lot one comprised a traditional Land Commission cottage on 1ac. The house was in need of extensive renovation. It opened and went on the market at €33,000 and sold to a young couple from the locality for €35,000.

Lot two consisted of 15ac of old pasture, described by Sean Coloe of auctioneers Sherry FitzGerald Davitt and Davitt, as good quality old grazing ground. It was accessed by a right-of-way, with a right-of-way running through it.

It opened at €75,000 and with two bidders in the field – the parcel went on the market at €85,000 and sold at €95,000 to a Leitrim man who has land in the area.

Lot three comprised 2.7ac of cut-away bog. This opened at €1,000 and sold for €1,500.
