British bidders have dominated the interest so far for a residential property which recently came on the market in west Cork.

A guide price of €298,000 is being quoted for this fine four-bedroom family home, which is located at Ardraly, Skibbereen.

The residence, which is known as Willow House, extends to 2,500ft2 and includes two reception rooms and four bedrooms, of which two are ensuite.

The dining area is located off the kitchen, making a wonderful open-plan reception area. The kitchen has an excellent selection of base- and eye-level units.

The living room runs the entire width of the house and features windows to the front and rear, an open fireplace with a solid fuel stove fitted and recessed ceiling lights. The floors are wooden.

The master bedroom is located on the ground floor and has south-facing double doors that open on to the lawn.

The residence is set back from the public road on a mature site, which is skirted by trees and shrubs. To the rear, there are stables.

Clonakilty-based auctioneer Henry O'Leary has received a number of enquiries from Britain for the property.

"This is the general trend in the west Cork market at the moment; the Irish buyers are struggling with finance," Mr O'Leary said.

He added that the bulk of British buyers were retired or semi-retired and not dependent on the local economy for a living.
