Birr 51ac needs closer look

The owner of a 51ac farm at Stonestown, Cloghan, Co Offaly will be home from Chicago for the sale of the property this Thursday.

Located one mile from Cloghan village and eight miles from Birr, the lands are currently in grass but could also be suitable for tillage. Coming with extensive road frontage, the holding will be attractive to a range of potential buyers and are brought to auction with a guide of €9,000/ac.

According to Peter Scully of selling agents GVM Tullamore a drive-by viewing will do no justice to the holding.

"The field at the road is probably the weakest of the ground," he said. "The best of the land rises away from the road and anyone taking the trouble to walk it will know it is a good buy."

The farm will be sold at auction at the Bridge House Hotel, this Thursday, July 11 at 3.00pm.
