Aspects to bear in mind
•Ensure cattle always consume grass to appetite.
•Divide cattle into smaller groups if underfoot conditions get soft.
•Ensure sufficient feed trough space so all cattle can eat concentrates simultaneously.
•Concentrate as a supplement to autumn grass should be high in energy and relatively low in protein such as rolled barley.
•Gradually introduce concentrate supplementation.
•Feed meals once a day up to 4kg/hd. Split the meal feeding into morning and evening at above 4kg/hd/day.
•Bring cattle indoors to finish if grass supplies tighten or underfoot conditions deteriorate.
