Armstrong buys John Deere site
Armstrong Farm Machinery, the well-known New Holland and Kuhn dealer, has purchased the former John Deere premises at Jordanstown in north Co Dublin.
The 2.5ac site was sold by private tender after the previous owner, Derek Plant, went into receivership earlier this year. It is believed that five bidders were involved including local machinery dealer Grimme and WBD.
The successful bid was in excess of €600,000 for the site.
Charles Hutchinson, who along with brother James and father Alex runs Armstrong Farm Machinery, says they will move from rented premises in the Naul after the harvest is completed.
Meanwhile, Dundalk-based Hanlon Machinery is set to be appointed as John Deere agent for the area formerly serviced by Derek Plant.
