80ac on outskirts of Dublin could be yours for €1m
Land in and around the capital made a rare appearance in the 2013 property market and it will be interesting to see if this pattern continues this year.
One of the earlier parcels of land to feature in 2014 is an 80ac farm on the outskirts of the city at Newcastle, off the N7. The non-residential farm is for sale by private treaty with a guide price of €13,500/ac or €1,080,000.
Located at Athgoe, Newcastle, near the Blackchurch Inn and Rathcoole on the N7, the 80 acres are all in grass and all in one block.
The farm is on an elevated site with fine views over Dublin, Kildare and Wicklow.
Philip Byrne of Coonan's, Maynooth describes the land as free draining ground laid out in nine divisions all surrounded by mature hedgerows fronting on to the Griffin River.
The farm is all in grass with 265m of attractive stone frontage on to the public road. It comes with a small farmyard that includes a haybarn, lean-to, cattle handling facilities and a number of outhouses. The property is well-fenced and watered by a combination of the Griffin River and the mains supply.
According to Mr Byrne, the holding could provide a fine site for a house given the requisite planning permission.
While it is on the market by private treaty at present, the auctioneer has not ruled out bringing it to public auction at a later stage.
