€58.5m forestry payments due
MORE than €58.5m in forestry premium payments for this year will be cleared by the Department of Agriculture this week.
Shane McEntee, Minister of State with responsibility for forestry, said the payments would be issued to the owners of 16,250 forestry plantations nationwide.
Speaking during a visit to forestry plantations in south Kilkenny, Mr McEntee urged landowners to consider forestry as an option on their holdings.
He pointed out that forestry premiums offered a regular tax-free income, while plantations provided a valuable investment for the landowner's future.
