€53m forest cash to be distributed

Payment of forestry premiums worth €53m are to be made to over 11,000 forest owners.

Minister of State Sean Connick yesterday said the cash represented the bulk payment run under the Forestry Programme, which is payable each year for 20 years to farmers and for 15 years in the case of non-farmers.

It is estimated the total paid out this year will exceed €60m.

Friday deadline in Dawn's SOS Club

The closing date for the Dawn Meats SOS (save our sucklers) Club has been set at this Friday.

Dawn Meats expressed its thanks to all suckler farmers who have applied to become members of the club.

The company reminds those who wish to join to contact Dawn's procurement managers for further information.
