The Byrnes are a well-known family of publicans from Thurles, Co Tipperary, with a chain of licensed premises in Dublin and Wicklow.
A tranche of their land extending to 52ac in the environs of Thurles is coming to auction on Friday.
The remains of Manor Mills, which gives its name to the adjacent Mill Road, are located on part of the property.
Auctioneer Sean Spain, of Tipperary Auctioneers, is guiding the sale at €15,000/ac. The land is largely good grassland set on the banks of the Suir. The property is outside the urban boundary but, with good road frontage on to Mill Road, has development potential.
Lot one comprises the old Manor Mills buildings on 10.5ac, lot two is 5.5ac of grassland, and lot three is 12.3ac of the same. Lot four is made up of 18ac on the opposite side of Mill Road, while lot five, a 2ac plot, is located beside Thurles Golf Club at Ladyswell. It has the potential to form a good site for a private house.
The property will be sold at auction on Friday from 3pm at Hayes' Hotel, Thurles.
