Inchadoney House is a beautiful and extensive Georgian residence on 6.5ac on Inchadoney island, a mile from Clonakilty in West Cork.

Owned by the Presentation Sisters and operated as a retreat centre, the 11-bedroom house extends to 5,081sq ft. It is now for sale by public auction and comes with a guide of between €400,000 and €450,000.

The house is typical Georgian with high ceilings, spacious rooms and much decorative detail. The ground floor accommodation includes an entrance porch, hallway, three reception rooms, three bedrooms, bathroom, guest WC, storeroom, kitchen, pantry and utility room. There are eight bedrooms on the first floor and three bathrooms.

Located on the property is a building once used as a chapel along with a range of well maintained out-offices. Included is storage space, garage and boiler house. The lands around the house include a 1.5ac walled garden and 5ac of grazing ground.

According to auctioneer John Hodnett, the house is in relatively good condition, but needs attention and modernisation. It has the potential to make an ideal guest house or boutique hotel in the heart of one of the country's busiest tourist areas.

The property will be sold at public auction at Inchadoney Lodge and Spa Hotel at 3.00pm on Thursday, September 5.
