38ac of 'best arable land'

A guide price of €10,000ac to €12,000/ac is being quoted for a 38ac farm located three miles from Waterford city.

Located at Gyles Quay, Ferrybank, this parcel of tillage ground looks southward across the Suir at Waterford Castle Hotel and Golf Resort.

It is brought to auction by local estate agents Shee and Hawe Auctioneers.

According to David Shee, 32ac of the land is the best of arable ground as it slopes down to the banks of the Suir, while the other 6ac are taken up with old stone farm buildings and a railway line embankment.

There is a range of disused stone farm buildings on the property that could perhaps be converted or restored given the requisite planning permission.

The land will be sold at auction at the Tower Hotel, Waterford at 12 noon on Thursday, September 27.
