An auction to be held today will be a good indication as to how the smaller equestrian sector is doing.

A parcel of 33.5ac of good quality arable land at Feighcullen, Rathangan, Co Kildare, will be put to auction by Portarlington auctioneer Matt Dunne at the Keadeen Hotel, Newbridge, with a guide price of €10,000/ac.

The land, which is all in grass and has an unending water supply, will be offered in lots.

Lot one comprises 16.33ac and comes with 110m road frontage.

Lot two comprises 17.33ac with 120m road frontage, along with a recently constructed American barn.

There is full planning permission attached to this part of the property for the construction of a large 4,500sqft two-storey residence.

According to Mr Dunne, the planning permission was originally obtained by a local veterinary surgeon, so he believes anyone involved in the equine business "should be able to fulfilL the local needs requirement."

The property will also be offered in the entire.

Mr Dunne maintains the €10,000/ac guide is reflective of the value of the property and will attract the customers.

"Being located only five miles from the Curragh gallops and having such a realistic reserve should make this holding very much sought much after," the auctioneer said.
