30ac of 'top quality' Athy land hits €410k

A 30ac parcel of ground at Levitstown, Athy, sold on Friday last for €410,000, or €13,600/ac.

With frontage on to the main Athy to Carlow road, the land is located about 1km from Maganey Cross, 9km from Athy, 10km from Carlow and 6.5km from Castledermot.

The property comprises close to 30ac of agricultural land all in permanent pasture, laid out in three divisions with extensive road frontage.

According to auctioneer Paddy Jordan, the land is all top quality ground suitable for a wide range of uses and is enclosed by natural boundaries.

The yard comprises a four-span hay shed and lean-to, an open silage pit, a three-span hay shed and lean-to and two small three-span enclosed sheds. The yard has electricity with water provided by a private well.

Before an attendance of around 30 people, the property was offered for sale in one lot – five bidders declared their hands when matters were at €200,000.

Bidding continued until the property went on the market at €365,000 before being knocked down at €410,000 to a buyer from Carlow.
