30.5ac Carlow 'farmer's farm' attracting plenty of interest
The market for smaller parcels of land continues apace with much evidence of lively custom for farms in the 20ac to 50ac size range.
Undoubtedly, there will be customers for a 30.5ac block of arable land at Burtonhall, Carlow, just three miles from Castledermot and four miles from Carlow town. The property will be auctioned on Thursday, July 28. It has a guide price of €10,000/ac.
According to selling agent Michael Lyng of Castledermot, the land is great tillage ground and is attracting a lot of interest locally and from further afield.
Currently under crops of barley and hay, that are not included in the sale, the property is described as a real farmer's farm. It has no road frontage, nor does it have an independent water supply.
Mr Lyng described it as an ideal piece of ground for a tillage farmer looking for additional acreage. It is within four miles of Castledermot, Carlow town and the M9.
Mr Lyng believes the guide of €10,000/ac reflects the current market value for the land and pieces like it in the area.
"This is straightforward agricultural ground that's ready and fit for purpose," he said.
The farm will be sold at auction at the Killerig Hotel, Killerig, Carlow, at 3pm.
