Not to be outdone in the size and quality stakes, one of the most talked about holdings to hit the market in the Cork area this year is a 150ac tillage farm at Trabolgan, Whitegate.
Located adjacent to the well-known Trabolgan holiday complex and the Whitegate Oil Refinery on Cork Harbour, the farm is for sale by private treaty, with auctioneer Christy Buckley guiding the sale at €2m, or more than €13,000/ac.
The farm, which comes with €5,000per year in single farm payment entitlements, has no buildings and is all in grain at the moment. The property has extensive frontage onto two roads bounding the land. Mr Buckley describes the farm as 'a tillage farmer's dream property.'
Of the 150ac, close to 60ac are zoned industrial, and given the relative stability of the general economic situation in Cork, thanks to the pharmaceutical industry, it is to be expected that this zoning should prove fruitful at some stage in the future.
The farm is very well kept and in great heart. It enjoys a spectacular setting with views over Cork Harbour and its proximity to Cork city makes it an attractive piece of property from a farming and commercial perspective.
