Smaller blocks of land are continuing to move at auction and are generally making good money.

Last week, a 22ac holding at Moyleggan, Batterstown, Co Meath, sold under the hammer for €195,000 or €8,870/ac.

Located 10 miles from Trim and near the M3 motorway, the land was described by Ronan McKenna, of Raymond Potterton Auctioneers, as an excellent parcel of ground.

All in grass, it is bounded on one side by a river and has enough road frontage to provide access. A field and residential property were retained by the seller.

Bidding started at €150,000, and in increments of €5,000 reached €195,000.

At that point, it was decided to put the property on the market and it sold for €195,000 to two brothers who farm locally and live in Dublin.
