One of the biggest properties to come on the market in Laois for some time is a 150ac farm at Graigueadrisley near Rathdowney. It is for sale by private treaty with a guide price of €1.25m, or over €8,300/ac.

Located four miles from Rathdowney on the Tipperary, Kilkenny and Laois borders, the land is described by auctioneer David O'Connell of Cullohill as mainly good quality agricultural ground.

Suitable for any farming enterprise, it has good road frontage, is connected for water and electricity and serviced by an internal roadway.

There are no farm buildings apart from cattle handling facilities and an old derelict cottage.

A 22ac portion of the 150ac is under Sitka Spruce forestry planted 20 years ago with no premiums remaining. Some of the land is also low-lying with some scrub.

Overall, according to Mr O'Connell, the farm would make an ideal dairy enterprise being all in one block with good access and a good internal roadway.
