€12,400/ac in Co Meath

An average price of €12,383/ac was paid in Co Meath last week when a total of 97.426ac went under the hammer for €1,195,000.

Three properties went under the hammer at the Trim Castle Hotel auction. The first to be offered by Aidan Heffernan, of Sherry FitzGerald Royal, was a residential farm at Scurlockstown, Trim.

Situated half a mile off the Trim to Dublin Road, the holding includes a two-bedroom land commission cottage on 40.798ac.

It opened at €410,000 and, with four bidders, it went on the market at €460,000 and was sold to a local farmer for €525,000 (€12,868/ ac).

The second lot was a 10.628ac field in the same village.

Proceedings opened at €50,000 and, with three customers bidding, it went on the market at €100,000 and 18 bids later sold for €136,000 to a local professional man with farming interests.

The next property was a non-residential farm extending to 46ac at Knightsbrook, Summerhill Road, Trim. It was bought in trust by a local man for €534,000 (€11,608/ac).
