Dubai runway revamp is best avoided

Any readers planning a trip to or through Dubai in 2014 should try and avoid booking between May and July.

The airport is completing major engineering work on its runways next summer and has announced that airlines will have to cut back flights in and out of the transport hub by about 50pc as a result.

This is a major disruption to one of the world's busiest airports, which is an important connecting location.

Airlines have until the end of this month to set out how they will reduce capacity during the construction works, so Irish customers should be aware that flights currently available for this period may still be changed.
