It will cease operating next month before becoming the latest Wetherspoons in Ireland.
Carbon was opened in May 2013 by Jason Glynn and Brendan McGowan, and will close on August 21. Management announced the planned sale on Facebook. "It is with a heavy heart that we announce Carbon Nightclub will be closing its doors for the final time on August 21 this year," they wrote.
JD Wetherspoon now has seven pubs in Dublin and Cork, and is developing a hotel on Dublin's Camden St. It is set to buy the Galway venue next month and plans a €2.5m investment to create a 4,000 sq ft pub and 1,900 sq ft beer garden.
That will require planning permission and a variation to the licensed premises.
