Private investor acquires Stillorgan Orchard for €3.5m
The well-known Stillorgan Orchard licensed premises in Stillorgan in south county Dublin has been sold to a private investor for a figure understood to be in the region of €3.5m.
The price paid for the landmark pub represents a not insignificant premium of 7.7pc on the €3.25m price selling agent, John Ryan of CBRE's hotel, and licensed division had been guiding when he brought the property to the market. Mr Ryan sold the Stillorgan Orchard on behalf of Tony and Conor O'Dwyer, who have traded successfully from the location for over 20 years. While the buyer of the property is new to the licensed trade, it is understood that they intend to continue operating it as a pub.
Located on the historic Hill in the heart of the original Stillorgan Village, the Stillorgan Orchard is one of Dublin's most distinctive licensed premises, renowned for its magnificent thatched roof. The award-winning licensed premises has been remodelled and refurbished over the years to provide contemporary lounge bar and catering facilities, while still retaining its traditional-style exterior.
The property is positioned next to Stillorgan Shopping Centre, and directly opposite the former Blake's Restaurant and Esmonde Motors sites, which were recently granted planning permission for a large development, comprising student accommodation and a gym.
