Oscar Wilde's former home Strand Hotel sold to international group for €1.8m

The Strand Hotel & Bar in Bray, Co Wicklow has been sold to international hotel investors the Puyan Group for €1.8m.

The deal represents a strategic addition  to the Puyan Group's growing portfolio, which already includes Butler's Guesthouse on Lansdowne Road, Dublin 4.

David Cao, chief executive, Puyan Group said of the Bray hotel: "It's a high-quality period hotel in a thriving location. We are looking forward to reopening and showcasing this beautiful property."

Strand Hotel & Bar underwent extensive renovation and extension in the past year. Brian McDonald, the award- winning interior architect and designer whose projects include Fade Street Social, Morrison Hotel, Pravda Bar, and Jameson's Distillery, has once again excelled and created a bespoke venue of contemporary style with innovative and elegant designs.

The hotel was built in 1870 by Sir William and Lady Jane Wilde, and was inherited by Oscar Wilde in 1876.

The marketing and sale of the property was conducted by Cushman & Wakefileld and saw very strong interest from both domestic and international parties.
