One of the best known pubs in south Dublin is being put up for sale with a guide price of €1m.

Pub and hotel specialist Morrissey's has been tasked with finding a buyer for McCloskey's in Donnybrrok.

The pub is being sold as a going concern by the McCloskey family, who had operated the licence since 1963.

Premises comprises a spacious yet compact three storey over part basement with large single storey extension providing approx. 270 sq m Ground Floor accommodation comprising licensed premises and off-licence, kitchen, toilet accommodation and stores, with spacious residential accommodation overhead of some 180 sq m (1,937 sq ft) complimented by basement storage of approx. 97.3 sq m and outside attractive beer garden.

"McCloskey's offers a unique opportunity to acquire a spacious licensed premises currently run on a very conservative basis but provides wonderful scope to remodel or refurbish and drive the existing business," said the agents.

Offers are due in by July 2.

McCloskey's becomes the latest bar in Dublin to go on the market at a time when insterest in the sector is at the highest it has been for years.

A combination of improved economic conditions, trading activity and liquidity has lifted demand and yet another factor is the number of investors who are taking shares in well known Dublin pubs in the expectation that returns will be better than from deposit accounts with interest rates still very low.
