Landmark Dublin pub JJ Smyth's sold for €1.4m
CBRE have confirmed the sale of the landmark JJ Smyth's Pub on Aungier Street, Dublin 2.
The property was sold for a sum in the region of €1.4m to Kato Investments, a vehicle owned and controlled by publican Stephen Rooney and his wife, Elaine. John Ryan of CBRE's hotel and licensed division handled the transaction on behalf of JJ Smyth who has retired after a lifetime of service to the licensed trade.
Ryan said the sale of JJ Smyth's reflects the continuing strong appetite from existing publicans to acquire city centre licensed premises.
JJ Smyth's is located at the corner of Aungier Street and Little Longford Street and in an area which has become a thriving commercial, social, residential and entertainment hub at the heart of Dublin city centre. The property is only minutes walk from St Stephen's Green and South Great Georges Street with its myriad of bars and restaurants.
JJ Smyth's is a four-storey, over-basement building comprising ground floor public bar, first floor jazz club bar and basement cellar. The upper floors comprise residential accommodation. The bar is well known in music circles for its music and jazz club.
