The deadline for entries to this year's KPMG Irish Independent Property Industry Excellence Awards has been extended to October 11.

Now into their third year, the awards have already recognised the achievements of Ballymore's Sean Mulryan, IPUT and Cosgrave Developments, to name but a few.

There are two new awards this year, for 'Energy Efficient Project of the Year' and 'Outstanding Contribution to the Property Sector'. With just 10 days to go to the new deadline for entries, 61 submissions have been received across the 11 award categories.

Entries for the overall awards must be submitted to www.propertyexcellenceawards.com. Apart from the recognition the awards provide to the best of Ireland's property industry, all proceeds from the event help fund the property doctorate research programme at the DIT.

The doctorate, which has a value of €90,000, is further supported by patrons Hibernia Reit, the Cosgrave Group, Irish Life Investment Managers and Linesight.

The winners of this year's awards will be announced on November 23 at a gathering of more than 700 property professionals in the Convention Centre, Dublin.
