‎Hotel operator Dalata will look to play a part in any deal for the former Jurys and Berkeley Court hotels in south Dublin.

The site holding the two hotels went on the market last week and is expected to fetch between €120m and €150m. It has planning permission for a new hotel and hundreds of apartments.

While Dalata is considered unlikely to buy the site outright, company CEO Pat McCann said he was "very interested" in being involved in the future development at the hotels.

"It's a fantastic location, and it is something that we would hope to be involved in," he said.

Company chairman John Hennessy added that he believed there was "scope for a bigger hotel" than what was already provided for in the existing planning permission.

Both men were speaking after Dalata's first annual general meeting as a public company.

The firm said it was consolidating it's €450m purchase of the Morans Hotel Group and was looking at further expansion into the UK.

At the meeting, more than 11pc of investors voted against the directors remuneration. Mr McCann said that was because of one investor which routinely votes against long term incentive plans that have a three year timescale instead of five.
