Ireland's largest hotel group Dalata has completed the transformation of the former Burlington Hotel in Ballsbridge.

The hotel will now operate under the Clayton Hotel Brand from today and will be known as Clayton Hotel Burlington Road.

German investment fund Deka is leasing the property to Dalata in a 25-year lease agreement. Deka agreed to snap up the property from Blackstone, who put it on the market for €180m.

The Dublin landmark was previously run by Hilton under the DoubleTree brand. Dalata will retain all of the staff at the property with general manager David Monks continuing at the helm of the management team.

Dalata chief executive Pat McCann said: “We are excited that Clayton Hotel Burlington Road becomes part of our portfolio from today and look forward to fully integrating this fine property to the Dalata family.  This hotel will be integral to our efforts to grow and strengthen our Clayton brand."

The building comprises of 502 recently renovated guestrooms, state of the art meeting and events facilities including a ballroom with a capacity for 1,400 delegates, an executive lounge, 24-hour fitness suite and an exciting ground floor experience.

Dalata, which also operates the Maldron brand, has an Irish portfolio of 40 three and four star hotels with a combined room total of in excess of 7,500.
