'Ireland will be living within its means' - Taoiseach and Finance Minister release Budget video on Twitter Newsdesk Newsdesk

Taoiseach Leo Varadkar and Finance Minister Pashal Donohoe star in their very own Budget video on Twitter.

This year's Budget will mean the country is "living within its means", the Taoiseach tells viewers in the two-minute clip.

Posted online by the Government news service, the video was released just hours before Budget Day.

"In 2018 we're going to balance the books," Taoiseach Varadkar is recorded saying.

"It will be the first time in 10 years that we have done so.

"It means Ireland will be a country that's living within its means."

Finance Minister Paschal Donohoe continues; "One of the important ways we're doing it is making increases in spending that are affordable and sustainable."

He added; "We want to make sure our increases are affordable and fair to everyone."

The pair are filmed smiling at one another before the Taoiseach tells us Budget 2018 means "more nurses, more teachers, more gardaí.... more infrastructure, new schools, hospitals, investments in roads and railways."

He concludes; "The most important thing is we're taking a 10-year view... we're not going to make the mistakes of the past."
