British property firm gets go-ahead for apartments
A property investment firm based in Britain has been given the go-ahead for its "two-phase masterplan" to build apartments and commercial units at Northwood, between Santry and Dublin Airport.
Up to 200 homes could be built on the 1.5-hectare site as well as commercial development, with both phases of the plan receiving planning permission last week from Fingal County Council. The first phase proposed by Kategale Ltd would see 99 apartments built, in a 10,000 sq m block up to eight storeys. It would include 13 studio units, 15 one-bed units, 38 two-bed units and 33 three-bed units. The second phase will include a similar number of apartments. It will also include an office development in a four-storey building. A cafe is also planned.
Kategale is linked to UK-based property development firm Westhill, which has worked on projects in Rush, Co Dublin, and Drogheda, Co Louth. In 2013, Westhill bought a five-acre site at Botanic Road on Dublin's northside. It sold it in 2017 for close to €18m after being granted planning permission for 119 residential units - a return of 28pc, according to its website.
It was also involved in the refurbishment of a 7,300 sq ft Merrion Square office building that is now for sale with a guide price of €5m.
