Port figures show Brexit effect is here for the long haul

Trade across the Irish Sea has shifted north, and that trend is unlikely to be reversed any time soon

While the pandemic is causing the bulk of Ireland's supply constraints and price rises, Brexit is still biting.

According to figures from Dublin Port this week, trade with Britain is down 21pc since January, while direct trade with European ports – mainly France, Belgium and the Netherlands – is up 36pc.
