Children are already expressing fears that their parents' jobs will be impacted by Brexit, according to Katherine Zappone.

The Children's Minister said feedback from youth organisations suggested Brexit was creating anxiety in young people.

Ms Zappone last night said she was organising a "major national gathering" at Croke Park on January 30 to discuss how to protect young people from the effects of Brexit.

She said she wanted to hear from "a generation which has never experienced a hard Border on the island" of Ireland.

"Our young people and their rights must be at the very centre of our Brexit preparations," Ms Zappone said.

The conference will also examine an all-island approach to children's health.
