Facebook plans Sweden server farm
Facebook is planning to build a large server farm near the Arctic Circle in Sweden, taking advantage of the chilly climate to keep its equipment cool, a Swedish newspaper reported.
The Norrbottens Kuriren said the American social networking website will announce its plans in Lulea, site of the operation, which is 60 miles south of the Arctic Circle.
The paper cites Jan Fredriksson of Helm1 PR, a public relations agency which represents Facebook in Sweden.
Mr Fredriksson and Facebook officials were not available for comment.
City officials in Lulea said earlier that they were in talks with an "American world-leading company" to build the five-acre facility.
