Marnane plotting Carnival campaign
David Marnane has strengthened his Dubai Carnival team with the arrival of two French recruits in Red Dubawi and More Than Sotka.
The Tipperary trainer has made a habit of targeting the valuable Meydan races, and old hands Nocturnal Affair and Dandy Boy will be returning to the Gulf again too.
Red Dubawi was formerly trained by Alain de Royer-Dupre for Ronald Arculli and won a Listed race at Compiegne last year
"He has settled in nicely to his new surroundings and has adjusted to life in Tipperary, as he prepares for his desert debut in January," Marnane told his website newsletter.
"Being by Dubawi, Red Dubawi has options of racing on tapeta (and) looks an ideal candidate for races from a mile and two furlongs up to a mile and a half."
The other arrival, a two-year-old filly, won a couple of minor events for Francis Graffard and Marnane said: "More Than Sotka will be aimed at a Classic campaign in Dubai - the UAE 1000 Guineas and UAE Oaks.
"She is set to make her Meydan debut in a seven-furlong conditions race, a prep for the 1000 Guineas, on January 17.
"Nocturnal Affair and Dandy Boy are being aimed towards the Al Quoz Sprint on Dubai World Cup, while Seanie will run at Dundalk on Friday week in a bid to raise his handicap mark up to Carnival standard."
