Paul Hession smashed the Irish 100m record for the second time in less than three weeks when he finished second in the Europa Cup in Vaasa, Finland this afternoon.
The Galway athlete finished 10.18 seconds behind Guus Hoogmoed of the Netherlands who ran 10.15.
This time qualifies Hession for the World Championships in Osaka, Japan this August and most importantly for the Beijing Olympics in 2008.
The time took a tenth of a second off his previous best time of 10.28 set in Kalamata at the beginning of June.
Hession will race the 200m tomorrow at the same event.
