Thirty arrests made in Co Kilkenny over three days
Gardai set up 50 armed checkpoints in Co Kilkenny
Thirty people have been arrested as part of a Garda operation aimed at disrupting criminal activity in Co Kilkenny and Co Carlow.
Gardai said the arrests were made between Monday and Wednesday after armed checkpoints were set up and searches were carried out in Co Kilkenny.
A total of 55 armed checkpoints were conducted.
The arrests, which were part of Operation Thor, related to drugs and road traffic offences as well as warrants.
Some 26 trainee officers from the Garda College in Templemore assisted in the arrests.
Operation Thor is a policing initiative aimed at preventing crime, disrupting criminal activity and enhancing community engagement in the Kilkenny/Carlow division.
