Teenager killed in Co Cork crash

Gardai said the 19-year-old motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

A motorcyclist has died in a collision with a car in Co Cork.

The crash happened in Knockane, Ballyclogh, near Mallow, at about 7.30pm on Thursday.

The 19-year-old bike rider was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body was taken to Cork University Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

The driver of the car, a man in his early 70s, was uninjured.

The road was closed after the incident to allow forensic collision investigators to examine the scene.

Gardai are appealing to any motorist who may have travelled the road at the time of the collision to contact them at Mallow Garda Station on 022-31450 or call the Garda Confidential Line on 1800-666-111.
